Corpus
Christi
“They
all ate as much as they wanted,
and when the scraps remaining were
collected they filled twelve baskets.”
The miracle of the five loaves and
two fish distributed among so many
people is given to us as a symbol
of the greatest gift and miracle
of all, the Eucharist. As God’s
people we are so privileged to be
fed with the Body and Blood of Christ
week after week, so much so that
we can even take it for granted.
We have a responsibility to keep
the wonder of this gift alive in
us. We also have the responsibility
to live this miracle through our
love for one another in our homes
and communities. Through the power
of Christ there was more left over
after thousands of people had been
fed than when they started. That
is what the same Jesus wants to
happen among us today as a result
of the Eucharist we celebrate.
Fr.
Johnny Doherty, C.Ss.R.

Prayer for the Catholic Church
throughout the World
God of all people
and things,
the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus
allows us to ponder for a moment
the reality of Christ’s suffering
and death.
We believe we
have been called
through the Sacrament of Baptism.
We believe we
have been called
to be Christ’s followers in
this time and place.
We believe we
have been redeemed and healed
through the wounds of Christ’s
broken body.
May all of us
who are members of the Catholic Church
renew again our commitment in the
ways of Jesus, Your Son.
We make this prayer
for ourselves,
for our parishes, for all of us
who together form the Diocese of Derry
and for the Catholic Church throughout
the world.
Sacred Heart of
Jesus, we place all our hope in You.

A prayer
service remembering all victims of
abuse will take place in St. Mary’s
Church, Killyclogher on Sunday 13th
June at 7pm. If you would
like to bring a rose to the service,
you may join in the silent procession
to place the roses beside the statue
of the Sacred Heart. The rose can
be a symbol of the Love that the Heart
of Jesus has for us all. The thorns
on the stem remind us of the pain
and suffering that Christ endured;
they also remind us of the pain that
exists in our Church at this time.
You will also find forms at the back
of the church on which you may wish
to express a prayer intention and
/or your thoughts on the past, present
and future Church response to child
abuse. These cards will be carried
to the altar during the prayer service.
The prayer printed overleaf will be
recited during the service.
