Cappagh Parish News
(Vol .31 No 35 ) 9th September 2007 - Psalter: Week 3
27th Sunday in Ordinary Time

The Renovation of St. Mary’s Church, Killyclogher.
We have just received confirmation that the planning for the above has been granted. We had hoped to have started much earlier but the plans now need to go out to tender and this means the church will close after Easter. We sincerely hope that the refurbished church will reopen the following Easter. As most of you are aware this will involve a huge financial commitment and with this in mind we are embarking on a fund raising campaign. Have you any ideas? There have been some suggestions already e.g. parish draw or an extra collection. We intend to form a committee to coordinate this effort. Would you like to be on the committee or be a promoter, collector or counter. We would like to steer clear of those who are already counting the ordinary collection as we feel that they do enough already. Suggestions would be most welcome.

The Hunter and the Bear

A hunter skipped Mass one Sunday to go bear hunting in the mountains. As he turned the corner along the path, he and a bear collided. The hunter stumbled backwards and began tumbling down the mountain with the bear in hot pursuit. Finally he crashed into a boulder, sending his rifle in one direction and breaking both legs. As the bear closed in, the hunter cried out in desperation, "Lord, I'm sorry for what I have done. Please forgive me and save me! Lord, please make that bear Christian." Suddenly, the clouds parted and a beam of light shone down on the bear. The bear skidded to a halt at the hunter's feet, fell to its knees, clasped its paws together and said, "Bless us O Lord for these, thy gifts, which we are about to receive. . .."
