Parish News
(Vol.33 No 30) - Sunday, 12th July
2009

15th
Sunday in Ordinary Time.
“So
they set off to preach repentance.”
There are many strange contradictions
in our world today. One of them
is that so many of us have lost
a sense of sin and yet the power
of evil was never so obvious. Maybe
this is a reaction to the past where
sin seemed to be in everything.
One of the major sins for most of
us is in settling for so little
when so much is on offer. This happens
when a couple settles for mediocrity
rather than a sense of adventure
in their marriage; when a family
settles for coexistence rather than
love; when a parish settles for
duty rather than building a real
faith community. We may not be able
to do a lot about the general evil
that is in the world. We can do
a lot about our own setting of limits
and this in turn will affect the
world we live in.

Doherty, C.Ss.R.

Tolerance
by John Leroy Maxwell
This
is not a perfect World, we see things
everyday.
That make us take a second look, or
make us turn away..
The heart of man has turned to stone,
and compassion is not found..
We've
taken Love and Friendship, And beat
them to the ground..
No longer do we hold our Hopes and
all our Dreams so dear..
At any given moment, we will trade
them in for fear..
Let's end this reign of violence,
and halt these evil designs..
We are all in this as one Human Race,
to that we must resign..
So please reach out, so all of us,
cease the malice and the pain..
And maybe one day soon, we'll hear
Sweet Music in the Rain..
So as you kneel and Pray to God for
a better life for all..
Ask that Peace and Tolerance be placed
visible on the Wall.

Thousands march in pro-life
Rally: Gardai put the figure
at around 3,000, organizers believe
it was more like 4,000 - 5,000 participants,

at Saturday’s All-Ireland Pro-life

the people of this island want Ireland
to remain abortion free.
The rally heard speakers from such
anti-abortion groups as Youth Defense,
Precious Life and Coir. Bernie Smyth
of Precious Life told the marchers
of the threats to life in the north
of Ireland: “we’re dealing
with an attempt by the Department
of Health in the north to introduce
abortion on broad grounds by attempting
to introduce new so-called abortion
guidelines”.
