Week 2
‘Sixth Sunday of Easter’
Just a thought - Circle
of life
When a child is
born, there is much laughter and joy.
The first indication that a child
gives of its presence in the world
is through crying. The cutting of
the umbilical cord symbolises the
break with what has gone before, life
in the security of the mother’s
womb. Then the child learns to smile
at the love and attention shown it
by those around it. Indeed, it is
often said that it is a pity that
he or she can’t remain like
that in spirit. And then in advancing
years, time seems to speed up, and
we older people comment on how fast
Christmas or Summer has gone past.
There is a quickening process like
a spacecraft re-entering the Earth’s
atmosphere. We experience the tug
of eternity in the burden of years.
When finally the coffin is let down
into the grave, the attendant quickly
withdraws the straps by which it has
been lowered. It is the cutting of
the second umbilical cord and of release
back into infinite freedom. Go now,
return from where you came, the wheel
has turned full circle.

Girls Dream of West End Stage!!!!!
The Saturday night BBC programme ‘Any
Dream Will Do’ has gripped the
nation as the search is on for the
part of Joseph. In conjunction with
this Andrew Lloyd Webber is giving
one lucky choir the chance of a lifetime
i.e. to perform live in the final
show and to appear on the West End
Stage for a special ’Children
in Need’ performance. The Loreto
Convent are taking up the challenge
and are up against choirs from all
over the British Isles. The top 20
choirs will be judged by Andrew Lloyd
Webber and to get into those twenty,
votes are vitally important. To help
them turn their dream into reality
they need your votes. To register
your vote go to
www.bbc.co.uk/joseph/competition.
The
deadline is Friday 18th May. Get all
your friends and family to vote as
