Greenhill.
A Service of Remembrance for those buried in the Greenhill Cemetery will take place in Christ the King Church on Sunday 4th November at 7pm. Please inform family and relatives who live outside the Parish of the time of the service.

Mildred, the church gossip and self-appointed arbiter
of the church's morals, kept sticking her nose into other people's business. Several residents were unappreciative of her activities, but feared her enough to maintain their silence made a mistake, however, when she accused George, a new member, of being an alcoholic, after she saw his pickup truck parked in front of the town's only bar one afternoon. She commented to George and others that everyone seeing it there would know what he was doing.
, a man of few words, stared at her for a moment and then just walked away. He didn't explain, defend, or deny. He said nothing. Later that evening, George quietly parked his pickup in front of Mildred's house.......and left it there all night.

Questions people ask
Q. Why are the decades of the Rosary called mysteries? For instance, what is mysterious about the scourging of Jesus at the pillar?
A. Since Jesus was at once human and divine there is an unseen, mysterious dimension to every moment of his life. The scourging of Jesus has depths of meaning far beyond the lashes imposed on any poor wrench in history. It is the Son of God here, the innocent victim entering into solidarity with all who suffer the whips and lashes of outrageous fortune. Jesus endured the tearing of his flesh in atonement for sins of the flesh. The fact that we refer to the mysteries of the Rosary shows that it is Jesus Christ who is at the centre of that prayer.

LORD, MAY YOUR SPIRIT BURN WITHIN ME

Lord, you burn like a flame within us,
Flame of energy and inspiration,
Living flame of love.
Yet like a flame you can be quenched by our pride,
Smothered by our selfish ways, by our sins.
There are times we prefer other things,
When we prefer to live without
The glow of your love within,
The flame of your goodness shining on us,
The light of your presence,
Times when we prefer
The ways of darkness.
Yet how can we live without your love, Lord?
Help me to hold on to what is good.
Help me not to quench your Spirit.
May your Spirit burn within me.
