Parish News
(Vol.33 No 11) - 15th March 2009
Third
Sunday of Lent

Christ,
the Wisdom of God
Jesus said: "Stop turning
my Father's house into a market."
Isn't it amazing how we human beings
can miss the point of even the things
we treasure most. The Jewish people
saw the Temple as the greatest treasure
they had in their life of faith and
yet they developed a system of abusing
that sacred place in the very name
of their religion. We do the same:
when we call marriage a Sacrament
and then have little care for the
couple relationship except when it
is in trouble; when we call our homes
the Domestic Church and treat them
as if Christ did not live there among
us; when we talk about our parish
as a community of faith but do very
little to build community; when we
are fed on the Body and Blood of Christ
and yet refuse to love and respect
many members of the Body of Christ.
Fr. Johnny
Doherty, C.Ss.R.
The
Reopening of St. Mary’s Church,
Killyclogher.
Seldom has an event
been so eagerly awaited by the parishioners
of Cappagh. During the past year we
held all our services in the Cappagh
Parish Centre and this worked very
well. This was due in no small way
to the dedication of our sacristans
and a special word of thanks to our
caretaker, Martin Logue who kept the
Centre in pristine order. Nevertheless
we are very happy to be moving back
to our beloved St. Mary’s which
holds so many memories for so many
people. I think you will all agree
that the refurbished church looks
wonderful and still retains the original
character of the old church. The re-installation
of the old bell has been a source
of great excitement and we await with
anticipation the sound of its peal
which we hope to hear in the very
near future. We are delighted to welcome
our bishop, Most Rev. Seamus Hegarty
here today to rededicate the new altar.
We also welcome all the priests, many
of whom have served in Cappagh and
last but by no means least, we welcome
the people of Cappagh. May
you all have a memorable day.

With the
reopening of St Mary’s Church
we thought it would be a good time
to talk about car-parking. While attending
services in the church, please endeavour
to park in a designated parking place.
Some people have taken to parking
on the footpath. This is inconsiderate
and could lead to an accident because
it forces people to step on to the
road. Other people simply drive into
private housing estates and sometimes
even block in residents. This is very
frustrating so we would ask that you
leave home a little earlier and have
more time to find a proper parking
place.
