Ascension
of the Lord
‘Now
as he (Jesus) blessed them, he withdrew
from them and was carried up to
heaven. They worshipped him and
then went back to Jerusalem full
of joy.’ The
feast of the Ascension of the Lord
is above all else a feast of hope.
Hope has been described as, not
just some vague kind of feeling,
but rather having someone or something
worth living for and dying for.
In Christ we have such a person.
He lives in us in our marriage and
family relationships and it is worth
putting every effort into making
those the best possible for his
sake. He lives among us in our community
and again we need to do everything
in our power to make our parish
the best we possibly can to his
glory and for the good of all. And
Christ lives for us in heaven at
the right hand of the Father, assuring
us of our ultimate destiny among
the saints. We can aim to be there!

Ascension
of the Lord ~ World Communications
Day
First Reading
: Acts of the Apostles 1: 1-11
It is what you have heard me speak
about: John baptised with water but
you, not many days from now, will
be baptised with the Holy Spirit.
Second Reading:
Ephesians 1: 17-23
May the God of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the Father of glory, give you a spirit
of wisdom and perception of what is
revealed, to bring you to full knowledge
of him.
Gospel: Luke
24: 46-53
Go, therefore, make disciples of all
the nations: baptise them in the name
of the Father and of the Son and of
the Holy Spirit.
God goes up with shouts
of joy;
the Lord goes up with trumpet blast.

A Prayer for
Undertaking Exams
Loving God
be with me now,
as I prepare for my exams.
Thank you for the many talents and
gifts you have
given me and for the opportunity of
education.
Calm my nerves and anxiety, help me
to remember all that I have studied,
to express it clearly and to answer
the questions
the very best that I can.
Holy Spirit, sit with me in my exam
- and always.
In Jesus' name
Amen
