One sunny afternoon, I strolled along a sandy beach. The tide was far
out, leaving stranded on the sand, starfish, thousands of starfish as far
as the eye could see.
I saw ahead of me what I thought to be a dancer. The young girl was
running across the sand, rhythmically bending down to pick up a
stranded starfish and throw it far into the sea where it could safely swim.
I gazed in wonder as the young soul again and again threw the small
starfish from the sand into the water. “What are you doing?” I cried
above the sound of seagulls and waves. “There are thousands of
starfish along this beech.”
Another starfish was tossed to safety.
“You can’t help!”. And another starfish. Again I insisted, “There are too
many starfish. You can’t make a difference!”.
She paused and looked down at the small starfish in her hand, and then
at me and then with a strong arm she threw the living starshape into the
ocean, and said, “I made a difference to that one!”.

The Secret of Living

The secret of living is learning to pray –

It’s asking our Father for strength for the day!

It’s trusting completely that His boundless grace

Will overcome care and each problem we face!

It’s walking by Faith every mile that we plod,

And knowing our prayers bring us closer to God!

“Whatsoever you shall ask in prayer, believing,

you shall receive.”

- Matthew 21:22

Salvation is open to all people, but God’s economy is not always the same as ours
