Jesus read from the
scroll: ‘He has sent me to bring
the good news to the poor, to proclaim
liberty to captives, and to the blind
new sight, to set the downtrodden
free, to proclaim the Lord’s
year of favour’. Then he said:
‘this text is being fulfilled
today, even as you listen’.
This is surely the clearest statement
about the purpose of the Church and
of our part in it that could be made.
We don’t just have a faith that
is for us to make us comfortable.
We have a power to transform the world
we live in and living our faith is
about doing just that. Our homes are
to be places where each person finds
healing and affirmation. The same
has to be made true of the faith community
we belong to. It is time to move away
from a sense of duty in regard to
our faith and move into a sense of
adventure for the Kingdom of God.
Thank You Lord
Lord, I just want to say THANK
YOU,
Because this morning I woke up
and knew where my children were.
Because this morning my home was
still standing,
Because this morning I am not
crying
Because my spouse, my child, my
brother or sister, my parent does
not need to be buried
or to be pulled out from underneath
a pile of concrete,
Because this morning I was able
to drink a glass of water,
Because this morning I was able
to turn on the light,
Because this morning I was able
to take a shower,
Because this morning I was not
planning a funeral,
But most of all I thank you this
morning because I still have life
and a voice to cry out for the
people of Haiti.
Lord I cry out to you, the One
that makes the impossible, possible,
The One that turns darkness in
to light,
I cry out that You give those
mothers strength,
That You give them peace that
surpasses all understanding,
That You may open the streets
so that help can come,
That You may provide doctors,
nurses, food, water, and all that
they need in a blink of an eye.
For all those that have lost family
members, give them peace, give
them hope, give them courage to
continue to go on! Protect the
children and shield them with
your power.
I pray all this in the name of
Jesus!!!
To all our email friends, please
continue to forward this so that
we can pray together for the people
in Haiti.

There will
be a collection outside all the
churches this weekend for the people
of Haiti. I’m sure
we’ve all seen the pictures
and we don’t need to be reminded
of the number who have died, been
horrifically injured and those who
survived but don’t have even
the basics which we all take for
granted. They are totally dependant
on our help and I know we won’t
let them down.
