Dympna and Vincent Brogan, from our parish, are in South Africa doing one year's voluntary work in a school for children with special needs. They are in the Parish of Our Lady of Light, Hermanus, which covers an area about the size of Tyrone, 4 churches and one Priest, Fr Frank Conlisk from Galway. It is a struggle to provide services to all of the people. In particular the black community has no Church accessible to them and uses the local school and Anglican church for services. The Parish has decided to build a church and community facilities in the black townshipof 12,000 peoplewhere there is rampant poverty, social problems and little employment. A member of SVdP runs a soup kitchen for 50 children from her house and this, along with other community services, will be located in the new building. They have a site and are committed to build at a cost of £90,000. There is a shortfall of £20,000.
Dympna and Vincent have asked if an appeal could be made in Cappagh Parish for donations to reduce the shortfall so that as much funds as possible can be made available to provide for the local community. A collection will be taken up on Sunday 1st July after all Masses.

Prayer Before Exams

Dear Father, Source of all wisdom,
help me to use my time and my intelligence wisely
as I prepare for exams.
Help me to dispose myself to listen to your Holy Spirit
so that you, as my loving Father,
may place me in a state of prayer
and lead me to understand
that the supreme wisdom
is knowing I am your child.
Help me to remain serene
so that my work may truly reflect
this profound truth
Mary, Mother of my spiritual life,
guide me in the ways of your Son,
so that my work may help
to transform this world for His glory.

Amen

Praying...and Waiting...and Patience
Let us ponder for a moment
Life's three seasons:
Praying...and waiting...and patience.
Life's unpredictable seasons.
The season of praying,
When we bring our concerns and worries
And lay them at Jesus' feet.
Crying out for God's help in our time of need.
The season of waiting,
When our timing is so much different than God's.
When we think we have waited too long
And yet there is more waiting to be done.
The season of patience,
When waiting and patience meet.
You cannot have one without the other.
They must go hand-in-hand.
Welcome prayer...and waiting...and patience
For we know God is teaching us
And using them for our good
To bring about His perfect will for our lives.
