“It is therefore
a holy and wholesome thought to pray
for the dead, that they may be loosed
from their sins”(2 Mach X11
46)
A plenary indulgence for the dead
can be gained by visiting the church
on November 1 or 2 and reciting the
Our Father and Creed and a prayer
for the Pope’s intentions, and
by going to Confession and Communion
during this period.
With the same sacramental requirements,
we can gain an indulgence for the
dead each day we visit a Cemetery
November 1-8 and praying for the faithful
departed.
