Sunday of Advent
Waiting
for God
Jesus said to his
disciples: "What I say
to you I say to all: Stay awake!"
Three times in the Gospel reading
for the First Sunday of Advent, Jesus
gives the command to stay awake -
so it must be important! But what
does it mean for us? This week we
begin a new year in our journey of
faith and the danger is that it might
simply be the same as the one we are
ending. We are no further along the
road unless we brighten up. The same
is true in your journey of love. One
year can easily be the same as the
last one and when it is like that
you are asleep or half dead. This
week is another wake up call for all
of us whether we are married or single,
priest or religious, living in a family
or living alone. It is particularly
a call to every parish community to
make the year ahead a time of growth
to the glory of God.

Doherty, C.Ss.R.

buying gifts for our families and
those we love. This year through the
Advent calendar there will be an opportunity
to prepare for Christmas in a different
way. Each day you will be able to contribute
to Children in Crossfire and also
get a short reflection to help focus
on what Christmas is really about. The
advent calendar boxes can be collected
from this church next weekend and

Omagh Players
The Omagh Players is celebrating its
75th anniversary next year and we
intend to hold an exhibition in the
Strule Arts Centre to coincide with
our annual production in February
2009. This exhibition will celebrate
the history of the company from its
inception to the present. We hope
to compile as much production history
as possible and information on past
associates and members – actors,
producers, backstage crew etc. If
you have any old photographs, old
programmes or any relevant information
or memorabilia, we would love to hear
from you. We are particularly interested
in material from the early days of
Omagh Players. Anything we borrow
for the exhibition will be carefully
catalogued and returned. Please contact
Clare on 07751680329 or Órlagh
on 07775 856036.

Last week’s
collection: £3,518
Retired Priests to date: £1,831.
Thank you very much.
