Cappagh
Parish News
(Vol.33 No 42) - Sunday, 31st October
2010
They all complained
when they saw what was happening.
“He (Jesus) has
gone to stay at a sinner’s house,”
they said. One of the lovely features
of the Gospels is that Jesus had no
problem with what we would call sinners.
He didn’t condone what they
did but he had great compassion for
them. The other side of that feature
was that he had a lot of difficulty
with good people. And he still has!
He found it almost impossible to break
through to them with the Good News
of God’s unconditional love
for every person because, if they
were God, they would not be like that.
So, as we struggle to live out our
faith through the various relationships
of our lives we need to be ready for
failure and be gentle with ourselves.
But we also need to be very gentle
with one another and become a source
of encouragement for one another rather
than putting one another down through
criticism.

November
is traditionally the month when we
remember our dead.
A plenary indulgence for the dead
can be gained by visiting the church
on November 1st or 2nd and reciting
the Our Father and Creed and a prayer
for the Pope’s intentions, and
by going to Confession and Communion
during this period. With the same
sacramental requirements, we can gain
an indulgence for the dead each day
we visit a cemetery November 1-8 and
pray for the faithful departed.

A thank you

in hospital in Belfast over the last
eight weeks. I just wanted to extend
my deepest thanks to those who have
visited me, sent cards and have included
me in their thoughts and prayers.
I have been completely overwhelmed
by the concern and care shown. I hope
to be out of hospital this weekend
and resume my work with the Choir
in the coming weeks DV. A special
word of thanks to Sheila Quinn and
Bernie Devlin for keeping my seat
warm. I look forward to seeing you
all when I’m out and about again.
